2005 Northern California Career and Leadership Summit
In early 2005, Dean Tracy came up with the idea to have a Career and Leadership Summit, designed to guide professionals towards enhanced and enriched careers, while also developing specific “Professional Development” career paths for themselves. In the coming weeks, as the idea came to fruition, the volunteer committee quickly grew to 56 people who were willing to dedicate their Saturday afternoon to supporting this big event. Dean and his team of 56 volunteers hosted and served nearly 400 professionals who came to learn from some of the most prominent speakers in their respective fields including:
Don Straits - CEO of Corporate Warriors and leading authority on career advancement and outplacement strategies and is also a career consultant for CareerBuilder.com
Fran Zone – CEO of San Francisco based Zone Communication and the Creator of the Zone Method™.As an authority in leadership communications, Fran has worked with clients such as the White House staff, NASCAR, Genentech, Dolby and NBC Olympics, to name a few.
Jim Casparie – CEO of The Venture Alliance.Recognized as one of the largest angel investment firms in the US, Jim and his team also serve as advisors to CEOs, corporate boards and senior level executives across a broad range of industries.
Steve Wisniewski – Former Oakland Raider, Offensive Lineman.After 13 years in professional football, Steve was named to the NFL Pro Bowl eight times and now serves as a sideline reporter for the Oakland Raider Television Network.He is also Director of Dealer Relations for a local software company and is active in his church.
The plan was simple…Offer an all day Conference where professionals can learn how to enrich their careers.This Conference will be free to the community and will also offer a free continental breakfast and free lunch!We did it! In addition to the Speakers who donated their time, we had generous and strategic partnering efforts with companies such as Safeway, Starbucks, Subway and several other local businesses who supported our vision and helped to make this a huge success for everyone.
We look forward to making this an annual event with the intent to drive professional growth while introducing new and creative ways to “Earn Your Seat in the Boardroom.”
